WHAT’S NEW AND AWESOME AT GO FEST, WHISTLER’S GREAT OUTDOORS FESTIVAL,

Free Concerts, Adventure Film Series and Exploration For All Ages During Victoria Day Long Weekend

WHISTLER, BC April 24, 2017 – Everything awesome about Whistler will be on offer this May Long Weekend at the fourth annual GO Fest, Whistler’s Great Outdoors Festival. Free concerts in the village, family activities, adventure on the mountain and in the valley, and arts and culture events inspired by Whistler’s unique mountain vibe, will take place over four action-packed days.

The Whistler Film Festival’s Adventure Film Series, May 19-21, will showcase six film screenings plus, new for 2017, a speaker series, photo competition, and exhibition. Short and feature length adventure films will take viewers to wild and wonderful places while educating, inspiring and motivating them. Select screenings will be followed by a speaker series covering mountain and adventure culture. More information .

Also, new to the GO Fest schedule, Nourish Refresh Nutrition Workshops by Holistic Nutritionist Morgan Dunn will help feed participants’ passions and teach them how to fuel their bodies for their adventure of choice. The first free session is “Eating for Yoga” and will take place on Saturday, May 20 at 9:15 a.m. following yoga at the Go Fest Base Camp in Mountain Square. The second session is “Awesome Nutrition for the Active Person” and will take place on Sunday at the same time and place as Saturday’s session. Both sessions will cover how to eat to support active lifestyles while incorporating strategies to make it doable for busy, on-the-go people who struggle to find time to eat well.

The entire GO Fest line-up is designed to inspire friends and families of all ages get outside, play, learn and grow while embracing the long-awaited spring season. Organized clinics and group sessions including yoga, tennis, running, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, and cycling add to Whistler’s incredible roster of outdoor pursuits on offer in May including skiing and snowboarding, downhill and cross-country mountain biking, fishing and golfing.

On the free concert front, 54•40 will launch the live music series planned for GO Fest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night, May 19, as they perform from their incredible catalogue of hit songs. On Saturday, May 20, at 3 p.m., MAZACOTE, will lay down some world dance party vibes before breakout indie band The Zolas, follows later that night at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, May 21 up and comers //AMISTAD// will play at 3 p.m. followed by the instantly recognizable sounds of Dear Rouge. The duo will wind up GO Fest Whistler’s May Long weekend, free concert series, in Village Square at 7:30 p.m.

Produced by the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and funded through the Province of British Columbia’s Resort Municipality Initiative, this year’s festival will see more entertainment and activities taking place in Whistler Village, including music and street entertainment. Over the course of four days, GO Fest attendees will get a chance to sample a host of outdoor activities and products in a high-energy, family-friendly outdoor setting.
